Youth Development Summer 2015 Program Guide

Interactive Game Room

Open Mon-Thurs 5-8pm for ages 5-12. An exciting room featuring a sports wall, Dance Dance Revolution and a big screen TV with a Nintendo Wii. A great blend of fun and exercise! Parents, drop your kids off to exercise while you do your workout. Free!

Gym & Swim

A ninety minute phys ed program for home schooled children ages 5-16. Includes instructed gym class and structured swim. Runs along the school year for 8 week sessions. Join an existing class or start a new one with your own group. Sessions start back up in January and March. After the March session this program will resume again in September.

$30 Members   $60 Non-Members

Teen Night

Teen Night for the 2015-1016 school year has ended.  Stay tuned this fall for the 2015-2016 Teen Night dates.

Zumba Kids

Kids are able to come enjoy all the benefits of Zumba®.  This eight week class helps develop and promote a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children’s lives by making fitness fun.  This class is open to kids 5 and up.

September 8th - November 2nd

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00pm - 7:00pm

Gym 1 & 2 Schedule

Youth Night- Saturdays - 5:30pm - 7:30pm Starting September 26th

Need a little time to yourself?  Grocery shopping, a movie, anything quiet and relaxing??  The Oneida Family YMCA holds Youth Night every Saturday throughout the school year!  Youth Night gives children grades K-5 exclusive access to the YMCA facility with engaging and safe activities led by trained YMCA Youth Programming Staff.   Be sure to bring a swimsuit and towel, sneakers and comfortable clothing.  Activities are open to both member and non-member children from any school district!   No need to register in advance; just drop in for a night of fun!  All youth must be signed in and out by a parent or guardian and a parent information form must be completed upon their first visit to Youth Night.

Is your teen looking for something healthy, engaging and fun to do on a Saturday night??  The Oneida Family YMCA holds Teen Night every Saturday night throughout the school year!  Teen Night gives 6-12th graders exclusive access to the YMCA facility with healthy and safe activities led by trained YMCA Youth Programming Staff.  Activities are open to both member and non-member teens from any school district!   No need to register in advance, just drop in for a night of fun!  Teens may sign themselves in and out of the program. An information form must be completed upon their first visit.  For safety purposes, once a teen has left our facility, they may not re-enter activities for the evening.

Y Achievers- Fridays - 4:00pm - 5:00pm - September 11th - October 23rd - Registration Begins August 17, 2015

Join us for an “outside of the box” small group tutoring program that will expand your child’s skill levels in both Math and ELA as well as provide a fun, hands-on approach to learning. Instruction is based on the NYS Common Core academic standards and is designed to assist with homework difficulty and advance your child’s understanding of troublesome subject areas. Twice the fun and half the cost of a private tutor!! Led by a NYS Certified Educator with a maximum of 8 participants per tutor.

  • Open to children Kindergarten to 8th grade from any school district
  • Cost for Members $40 per session, Non-Members $55 per session
  • Register and pay for the 7 week session either online or at the Oneida Y front desk
  • Each child will need a registration form to be kept on file to help our staff better reach your child's academic goals

Little Steps - Thursdays - 10:00am - 11:00am - September 7th - October 31st

Do You Have an Active Toddler?

Join us for our brand new program, LITTLE STEPS! We strive to develop the whole child  and to provide an environment for toddlers to learn, gain self-confidence, make new friends and respect others. This program is designed to develop motor skills, literacy, creativity, and socialization. This is a great start for parents who are looking for that “first step” to structure and play for their toddler. Parents who are members are able to use the facility while their child participates in our program. Program includes weekly physical activities, story and healthy snacks.

Tumbling - Wednesdays - September 7th - October 31st

Tumbling Class? What?

Children will participate in a 7 week program that offers a fun environment to learn the basics of acrobatics and gymnastics. This program will offer stretching, balance, basic tumbling, and social interaction. Parents and guardians who are members of the YMCA are able to attend adult programming while their child participates.  In order to meet the needs of various ages, we will run two separate Tumbling classes. Our first class will be offered to children ages 3-5 years old. This class will be followed by another class open to children ages 6-12 years old.

Ages 3-5: 6:00pm - 6:30pm    Ages 6-12:  6:45pm - 7:30pm

Kids on Camera - Tuesdays - 6:15pm - 7:15pm -September 8th - October 20th

The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley is bringing an exciting and educational children’s on-camera acting class to the Oneida Y!  Started in our New Hartford location, our children’s acting and film programs have grown to serve hundreds of children who have learned self confidence, writing composition skills, public speaking skills and an introduction into the art of film production.  Participants will learn improvisation, film & TV acting, commercial acting and scene study.

After twenty two years working in Hollywood, as both an Actress and Production Manager at three major studios, Instructor Chase Clifford has returned to the area to teach this fully professional project.

Gym and Swim - Thursdays - 10:30am - 12:00pm  - September 10th - October 20th 

Gym and Swim is a 7 week program designed for home schooled children to promote interaction with their peers and to stay active.  This program offers 45 minutes of swimming with instruction and 45 minutes of instructed gym time.  Gym and Swim is a good way for kids to stay active,live healthy and meet other home schooled children.

Registration: Monday, August 3rd—Saturday, September 5th        Ages: 5—16 years old

COST: Members  $40  Non-Members $55

Bible Study- Wednesdays, 12:00pm -12:45pm 

Join us for an open Bible Study that all are welcome to attend. The study will be led by Pastor Randy Phillips who will lead discussion and the study of I Timothy based on the commentary and study questions of Gospel Preacher and Bible Teacher, Mark Copeland. Copeland uses simplicity to share the gospel and the questions seem to evoke response in a real life scenario.

Rentals and Splash Parties

Any family, group or organization may rent the pool, Party Room or Gymnasium for a private party.  Available Saturday or Sunday afternoons.  Pricing available for Members and Non-Members.  Contact a Member Services Representative for more information, available dates or to schedule a party.  Parties exclude the months of July and August.

Family Zumba® - Sundays, 10:15am - 11:00am 

Zumba® for all ages.

Families are able to come enjoy the benefits of Zumba® together in one class. This class helps develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children's lives by making fitness fun. This class is open to all ages of Tri-Valley YMCA members. Parents/guardians are required to attend the class with their children.

Children's Film Program & Acting

This exciting and educational hands-on film making course introduces your child to all the major tasks involved in getting a film produced. The Program will include 28 weeks of on-camera acting, screen writing and producing. Students will collaborate on out their own professional screen play that will allow each "crew" member to experience their contribution in varying production roles. At the end of their film making journey they will experience a "Red Carpet" moment by having their very own film premier with family and friends to enjoy.
