Summer Basketball Clinic

This clinic will focus on learning the fundamentals of the sport for the younger group and teach more advanced techniques to the older group. The clinic will be instructed by Bruce Hairston and staff. The num,ber of participants will be limited so we can provide more individualized instruction. Register online at ymcatrivalley.org under "Youth and Family Programs" or in person at the Rome Y.

WHEN: July 11th-July 15th, Monday - Friday

TIME:   Ages 7-9, 11:15am - 12:00pm

              Ages 10-12, 12:00am - 1:00pm

              Ages 13-17, 1:00pm - 2:00pm

Volleyball Clinic Ages 6-13

This is a one week clinic that will help develop all skills in volleyball. This will include developing hitting, passing, serving, and setting. Come on out and get a jump on this up and coming season! Register online or in person at the Rome Family YMCA.

WHEN: July 25th-July 29th, Monday - Friday

TIME:   Basic, Ages 8-10, 10:00am - 11:00am

             Intermediate, Ages 11-14, 11:30am - 12:30pm

             Advanced, Ages 15-18, 1:00pm - 2:00pm

COST: Members $ 20  Non-Members $40

 Pre-Season Conditioning Clinic  Ages 9-16

This 4 week program is designed for athletes who want a jump on conditioning for sports or the athlete who wants extra time training to become better. Instead of waiting until the season starts and you are extra sore or out of shape, come on out and try the class! Register online at www.ymcatrivalley.org or in person at the Rome YMCA.

WHEN: August 2cd - August 25th, Tuesdays and Thursdays

TIME:  Ages 9 -11, 10:00am - 11:00am

Gymnastics Aerobic Loft

Mommy & Me 

Ages 20-36 months

Each child must have an adult participating with him/ her. Child must be able to walk. Lessons will assist to develop their motor skills.

Toddler

3-4 years old

This class helps preschoolers to learn by doing. Rolling, swinging, jumping and balancing all in one class!

Preschool  

4-5 years old

This class helps learn safety by doing. Safety rolls and falls will be demonstrated. They will learn the basic element of gymnastics and build as they grow.

 

 Teen Basketball League (Ages 13-18)

This league is only for those students who are not playing on a school team. Players are assigned a team by our coaches based on skill level. Each team will play an 8 game regular season and one game elimination playoffs. Each team will be assigned a coach and have one practice a week when gym time permits. Each player will be provided a jersey to wear during the season.

Learning Together (Ages 2-4)

The Parent Child Gym Awareness Class provides an opportunity for children and their parent/caregiver to gather weekly for structured, age appropriate classes.  Each class can incorporate music, rhymes and songs. Physical activities are used to stimulate the child’s awareness, encourage motor skill development, increase socialization skills and overall increase the child’s developmental abilities in a fun, safe environment.  This is an interactive class for both child and parent. Certified teacher and mom, Jillian Olney, will be the instructor for the Parent Child Awareness Gym Class.  This is a six week program.  Classes will be limited to the first 10 who register.  Classes will only run if we have a minimum of five participants in each group.  Look for date dates for the next session starting soon!

Zumba Kids- Tuesday and Thursdays at 6:00pm-7:00pm

Kids are able to come enjoy all the benefits of Zumba®.  This class helps develop and promote a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children’s lives by making fitness fun.  This class is open to kids 5 and up.  The next session runs from January 19th-February 25th.  

FREE for MEMBERS!

Interactive Game Room- Monday- Thursday 4:30pm-7:30pm

Open Monday-Thursday 4:30pm-7:30pm for grades K-6. An exciting room featuring a sports wall, Dance Dance Revolution and a big screen TV with a Nintendo Wii. A great blend of fun and exercise! Parents, drop your kids off to exercise while you do your workout. Free! 1 1/2 hour time limit.

Teen Center- Tuesday-Friday 4:30pm-7:30pm

Open Monday-Friday 4:30pm-7:30pm for grades 7-12.  A space just for teens featuring a pool table, foosball, ping-pong, XBox 260 with a big screen TV, a lounge and computer lab.   Free for members!

Gym & Swim

A ninety minute physical education program for home schooled children ages 5-16. Includes instructed gym class and structured swim.  Gym & Swim runs during the school year with 8 week sessions. Join an existing class or start a new one with your own group.  Sessions start back up in January and March. After the March session this program will resume again in September.

Youth Night-Grades K-6- Saturdays 5:30pm-7:30pm

The Y is open exclusively to youth in grades K-6 on Saturday evenings between 5:30pm and 7:30pm.  They have access to the interactive room, gym and pool. Concessions are availabe.  

Cost:  Members $2     Non-members $4. 

Teen Night- Grades 7-12- Saturdays 8:00pm-11:00pm

The Y is open exclusively for teens in grades 7-12 on Saturday evenings between 8:00pm and 11:00pm.  They have access to the gym, Teen Wellness Center and Teen Center.  Open swim is also available between 8:00pm-9:00pm.  Concessions are available.

Youth Golf Clinic - Ages 7-11 

In partnership with Kanon Valley Country Club, the YMCA will be providing a four-day fun and educational golf clinic.  Youth will be introduced to the fundamentals of golf while learning sportsmanship, technique and respect for the game.

Fit Kids of Madison County 

The Fit Kids Summer Program is designed to actively engage the past participants of the formal Fit Kids program from the pilot forward. The goal for this session is to help participants get back on a good fitness and nutrition plan for the new school year. We will work as a group for three weeks and create a plan to meet individual goals in the fourth week. Nutrition and Behavioral professionals will be available by appointment. 

WHEN: August 9th - September 1st 

DAYS: Tuesdays and Thursdays

TIME: 5:00pm - 7:00pm

COST:  $30 payable by participant

 

Red Cross Babysitting Course (Ages 11+)

The Oneida Family YMCA will be offering the Red Cross Babysitter's Training course for youth ages 11+ to become safe and responsible babysitters.  Our class is open to all youth and adults, members or non-members and is divided into two sections.  Registered participants will also receive an optional CPR/AED/First Aid training on the following Sunday at no additional charge.

Pokemon League-

Join us for a ten week Pokemon League where children grades K-6 learn to play, have fun and make friends!  Most importantly, this league promotes fun, fairness, honesty, respect, sportsmanship and learning. Oneida Summer Youth Basketball 

"Everyone Plays, Everyone Wins" is our philosophy.  YMCA basketball programs emphasize the fundamentals of basketball as well as fair play, sportsmanship and FUN.  Each youth basketball program offers weekly skills, drills and scrimmages.  No matter the skill level of the player, these programs will challenge participants to develop their shooting, passing and dribbling techniques through positive reinforcement that will help increase ability and confidence.

Summer Swim Team

Our program is a comprehensive total body fitness program that incorporates the YMCA's Christian principles while creating a healthy balance between workouts in the water, weight training, and dry land training for athletes. Swimmers will compete in USA Long Course Meter meets held on various weekends in the Adirondack Zone area. Swimmers must bring a cap, goggles, fins, and a water bottle to practice every day. All new and returning swimmers must attend one of the following tryout dates.

COST: $175 Team Fee, ($ 66 USA Fee applies to new 2016 applicants only)

Summer Camp Weekend Sleepover

The camp Silver Arrow Program will be holding an overnight for youth ages 4-14 years old. Youth are able to participate in swimming, arts & humanities and physical fitness. We will be focusing on becoming comfortable with outdoor camping, setting up shelter, telling camp stories, eating late night healthy snacks, and making friends for a lifetime. This program is appropriate for all ages whether it is your first night away from home or you are an experienced Y overnighter! 

WHEN: Friday July 22cd and August 12th 

TIME: 6:00pm - 10:00am

COST: $40 Members  $55 Non-Members  $30 Financial Aid Participants  

Register by the Wednesday before each date to avoid a $10 late fee.

Please bring: sleeping bag, pillow, tent (able to share if needed), toothbrush, swimsuit and towel, flashlight, sweatshirt, pajamas, and a change of clothes for Saturday morning.

 

Bible Study- Wednesdays, 12:00pm -12:45pm 

Join us for an open Bible Study that all are welcome to attend. The study will be led by Pastor Randy Phillips who will lead discussion and the study of I Timothy based on the commentary and study questions of Gospel Preacher and Bible Teacher, Mark Copeland. Copeland uses simplicity to share the gospel and the questions seem to evoke response in a real life scenario.

Any family, group or organization may rent the pool, Party Room or Gymnasium for a private party.  Available Saturday or Sunday afternoons.  Party goers will have private access to the pool as well our party room to hold their celebration.  Bring the whole group and your suits for a unique birthday party celebration!

Children’s Film Making

Children's Film Program & Acting

This exciting and educational hands-on film making course introduces your child to all the major tasks involved in getting a film produced. The Program will include 28 weeks of on-camera acting, screen writing and producing. Students will collaborate on out their own professional screen play that will allow each "crew" member to experience their contribution in varying production roles. At the end of their film making journey they will experience a "Red Carpet" moment by having their very own film premier with family and friends to enjoy.

After twenty two years working in Hollywood, as both an Actress and Production Manager at three major studios, Instructor Chase Clifford has returned to the area to teach this fully professional project.
